Call to Action: Keep funding in place for bike and pedestrian trails

Ubuntu Green is supporting the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy challenge to AAA’s call to redirect funding for biking and walking facilities back into the federal highway system. We need to keep funding in place for these cycling and pedestrian trails. AAA has blamed the $89 billion annual highway fund shortfall on federal investments that have helped build 19,000 miles of bicycle and pedestrian trails and sidewalks across the U.S. AAA President, Dan Gagnon has proposed directing the total amount spent on bike and ped projects – less than $1 billion – back into the federal highway system. Earlier this year AAA Mid-Atlantic denounced the installation of bike lanes on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington, D.C.
