Re: Endorsement of the Sacramento Region Food System Charter
Dear Sacramento City Councilmembers and Sacramento County Supervisors:
Ubuntu Green is proud to join with a diverse group of stakeholders to pledge our support for the Sacramento Region Food System Charter. The broad support for the Charter reflects a growing recognition that we are all affected by food decisions.
From our standpoint, the Sacramento Region Food System Charter is more than just about coordinating logistics; the charter will raise awareness of health, economic and environmental benefits of buying and eating locally.
At a time when childhood obesity is already at dangerous levels and on the rise; fast food outlets outnumber healthy food restaurants; and too many members of our community are simply going hungry, we are looking to our local government leaders to stand with us and affirm your support for a system of healthy food access.
Therefore, we encourage cities and counties within the Sacramento region to adopt the Charter, as a step towards securing our local economy and improving the health of our communities.
